21st Century Technolgy Skills

The information from Dr. Dede, Technology Interfacing is almost unbelievable. The three ways of interacting with people and students absolutely astounds me. How we can use Technology with email and browsers I am just getting use to but the future of Multi-User Virtual Environment (MUVE) and the avatars that will augment reality seems like something from another world. To add to that the ability to use real world technology such as mobile wireless devices, smart cell phones, personal digital assistants, etc. to tie the knowledge together gives me an excitement of what we will be capable of doing in the very near future. With all that in mind, I feel that stepping into the future will be thrilling and the possibilities endless.

  1. It is incredible what the future holds for us in education. Now can we use it a way that is beneficial for us and our students. The main concern that I have is funding. I know that in my district they are trying to incorporate technology in the class room, but it is a slow process. Educating the staff and implementing technology into lesson planning can be tiresome and at times frustrating. The lack of resources and a push to generate above average test scores does not always allow us to try new things. As much as technology has grown, it still has a long way to go.

  2. Yes, the Jetson's are becoming a reality. I too was impresses at what we are now capable of and look forward to future technology. The problem I believe is being able to fund the education that our students need to use this technology. Also, we need to make sure our educators are all willing to learn and teach this advanced technology. We still have a lot of old school teachers who need to be persuaded, perhaps by their personal progress reports, that this is not a choice but a necessity.
